Are a current member of the Reserve Components assigned to a military command in a drilling status, including active Reserves, who has a behavioral health condition or psychological trauma related to military service that adversely effects quality of life or adjustment to civilian life. We offer confidential help for Veterans, service members, and their families at no cost in a non-medical setting. Our services include counseling for needs such as depression, post traumatic stress disorder , and the psychological effects of military sexual trauma . If you experienced sexual assault or harassment during military service, we can help you get the counseling you need.
We’re here to support you if someone close to you has died or you’re adjusting to a difficult life change. Travel is required and may include attending meetings and/or conferences outside of the County. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and others encountered in the course of work. Use tact, discretion, courtesy and patience in dealing with sensitive and difficult individuals and situations. Respond to crisis and emergencies which may be alcohol or drug related. May be assigned to conduct group and or education classes in the DUI Program.
Veterans
If you’re struggling with issues like PTSD, depression, grief, anger, or trauma, we offer counseling and other support. Review the patient's responses to treatment and make recommendations to the physician related to the need of continuing or discontinuing the speech therapy treatment. Community and social service needs of low-income people and relevant community resources. Alcoholism and a general understanding of the Twelve Step programs including Al-anon, Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous .Counseling skills which includes the methodology to conduct individual interviews and group discussions. Transports residents to appointments, health screenings, and meetings or for emergency purposes; ensures residents go to all required appointments and meetings.
Assess the participants’ immediate needs and ensure participants’ receipt of needed services through personal service or making appropriate referrals. Understand, interpret and respond to client needs and expectations; explain and enforce applicable laws, codes, policies and procedures. Plans, schedules and supervises residents’ daily activities, including classes, appointments, outings, special events and community involvement. Regularly meets with residents to track progress and prepares resident progress reports. Schedules and conducts applicant interviews; intakes and discharges residents; terminates residents from program as necessary.

Our records can’t be accessed by other VA offices, the DoD, military units, or other community networks and providers without your permission or unless required to avert a life-threatening situation. Vet Centers are small, non-medical, counseling centers conveniently located in your community. They’re staffed by highly trained counselors and team members dedicated to seeing you through the challenges that come with managing life during and after the military. Instruct, teach, and monitor patients, their families, and other health team personnel regarding speech therapy procedures as related to the patient's therapy program. Assess individual alcohol/drug dependency problems and develop treatment goals and objectives.
Prepares weekly chore lists for residents and ensures chores are complete. Logs, dispenses and disposes of prescribed medications for residents. Due to high demand for services, new clients are oriented to the Vet Center through weekly group orientation. We also have non-traditional hours that change periodically given our community’s needs. Vet Centers are community based to be more accessible in areas where you live.

Maintain compliance with the requirements for continuing education hours and/or units as determined by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs and/or other regulatory agencies. Conducts searches of resident rooms as needed in accordance with MAAC policies and applicable legal requirements. Prepares exit plans, discharge summaries and certificates of completion for residents who have successfully completed the program; contacts discharged residents for follow-up. Communicates with parole officers, probation officers, advocates, and lawyers in person or by telephone to discuss residents’ status and progress. Screens program applicants for admission or referral to another treatment facility or program. You don’t have to be enrolled in VA health care or have a service-connected disability.
We provide private organizations and community agencies education on our Veteran community and military culture. Together, we build referral networks to expand support for Veterans, service members, and their families. Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds; understand and follow written and oral instructions; maintain confidentiality of agency documents and records. Performs case management record keeping tasks; assists in preparing required program performance reports; maintains and updates center waiting lists; prepares and types correspondence; creates resident files and applicant/resident information. We offer assessment and support through private counseling and group therapy. We can also refer you to VA or community counseling for treatment and therapy resources.
Effective communication skills to communicate with program participants, program staff, diverse government agency representatives and community groups. Methodology to assess individual alcohol/drug dependency problems and develop treatment goals/objectives. Conducts comprehensive assessments of applicant substance abuse history, family, health, medical needs, employment and educational background. Served on active military duty in response to a national emergency or major disaster declared by the president, or under orders of the governor or chief executive of a state in response to a disaster or civil disorder in that state. We can help you overcome substance use problems, from unhealthy alcohol use to life-threatening addiction.
Requirements for placement in these classifications is pursuant to the requirements of the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals Credentialing and/or California Association of DUI Treatment Programs Credentialing and may be subject to change. Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining registration/certification as outlined below. Submission of transcripts, certificates, diplomas, verification of work experience may be required. Interpret, apply and reach sound decisions in accordance with rules, regulations and MAAC policies and procedures.

We can connect you with educational and career counseling, mental health services, and other programs and benefits that will support your transition. Case management skills particularly in the area of recording participant progress in case records or other documents as may be required by state, county, or the judicial system. The Speech Therapist in Home Health is responsible for the assessment and evaluation of patient care needs in treating speech and language disorders, training functionality in communication, swallowing, and cognitive impairments. Based on this assessment and evaluation, the Speech Pathologist determines a treatment plan, executes interventions aimed at improving and enhancing the patient's well-being, and monitors the patient's progress effectively. While performing the duties of this class, an employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit, talk or hear both in person and by telephone, uses hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls, reach with hands and arms. An employee also is regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl, climb or balance and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work effectively independently without close supervision; organize, set priorities, take initiative and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility; perform duties that require high attention to detail and application of rules and specific procedural requirements.
Whether you come in for one-on-one counseling or to participate in a group session, at Vet Centers you can form social connections, try new things, and build a support system with people who understand you and want to help you succeed. Call our Veterans Crisis Line at 988 and press 1 to get support anytime day or night. Our Vet Center can also connect you with ongoing counseling and services. Look over, record, and report the patient's response to treatment and any alterations in the patient's condition. Interpret, plan, establish, and execute a proper treatment program in accordance with the physician's referral.
We can help connect you to VA and community resources that will support you in achieving your goals. Chula Vista Vet Center has specially trained therapists on staff to support your needs and can facilitate inpatient treatment if necessary. We offer couples and family counseling to support you as you work toward meeting your goals. Keep a record of each patient visit and incorporate detailed notes into the medical record. Make recommendations based on the home setting and individual needs of the patient. Must have and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, daily use of a personal, insured vehicle, and have and maintain a motor vehicle driving record acceptable to MAAC’s insurance carrier.
Any Veteran or service member, including members of the National Guard and Reserve forces, who experienced military sexual trauma is eligible to receive counseling. Develops, revises and updates individual recovery plans with residents that establish specific treatment goals. Our services are also available to family members when their participation would support the growth and goals of the Veteran or active-duty service member. We also offer bereavement services to family members of Veterans who were receiving Vet Center services at the time of the Veteran’s death, and to the families of service members who died while serving on active duty.
